Obsessing, obsessing some more over something else, procrastinating anything useful or that needs to be done, and working.

That’s all I seem to do, really. Maybe we should add eating cake to that list. Cake, more cake, and chocolate.

I’ve become incredibly unhealthy over these last few months (read: the last year and a half). So unhealthy that I’m starting to whine about getting fat. Not that I am, but that I might become so if I don’t stop. Not thinking of stopping either though. But once spring arrives, which will probably not be before early-to-mid April, I can start taking my regular walks again. There’s this beautiful, large forest only a couple of hundred metres away from our house, so it’s not like I’ll be lacking places to wander off to. Walking ought to help. Exercising more than that? Probably not. Not my thing.

I’m bored with winter, and in general too, since I’m only working part time at the moment without taking any classes. It’s beautiful and white, but so incredibly long! Norway usually has around a half year of winter, which hardly leaves any space for the other seasons. There’s five months of snow, ice and minus degrees every single year. I want the world to change to spring already.

In the mean time, while waiting for spring / summer, flowers and warmth to come back, I’ll be obsessing over pearls, jewellery and shoes – just planning what I’ll do AFTER summer, when my university studies begin.

I’m leaving on a small vacation today. It seems like a good idea since I don’t have to work until Wednesday.

But then again, it’s a family trip. I’m never able to decide whether I like being on those or not. If I could just tape my youngest little brother’s mouth shut, it would probably be very enjoyable. The family wouldn’t like that though. I think I’ll just go for avoiding him as much as possible instead. He must (almost) be the noisiest brat in the northern hemisphere, and he’s bringing along a just as noisy friend.

The vacation spot is beautiful though, and so close to the sea!

It’s filled with, last time I checked, petunias, tulips, rhododendron, lilys, berry bushes, strawberry plants, nearly a hundred different kinds of roses and what not. The garden is full of life and colour three out of the four seasons each year. My mum has put incredibly much effort into it ever since we moved here (when I was four or something).

Because of our garden (and also the many neighbours large gardens) we also have plenty of small animals living near our house. The hedgehogs are my favourites. We see them every single year during summer. Sometimes a mother with cubs, and sometimes only a grown one. We’ve taken care of quite a few cubs who’s gotten left behind – last year one of them fell off the low wall edge that separates our and our next door neighbours properties and damaged it’s foot. We nursed it a bit, gave it food, water and such, and then gave it over to a guy who’s work is to take care of them.

This year I’ve seen three of the pointy cuties. One single hedgehog, which didn’t have any problems with being taken pictures of, and one mother and cub which we left alone.

I was supposed to leave for Shanghai today, but that didn’t quite work out as planned. Don’t you just love getting up at 1 AM before a long distance flight, only for it to be cancelled? Irony, if course.

I got up at 1 AM, left home around 2:30, was at the airport at around 4:30 and then went through those long, silly before-flight routines, aka everything from passport controls to luggage checks (I was the “lucky” winner of an extra thoroughly check) only to get to know around 6:30 that my flight was cancelled. Tiresome, to say the least. There wasn’t enough air in the front wheel of the plane, and since they hadn’t yet figured out what had happened we couldn’t leave. That part was okay though. Better safe than sorry.

Then came the “get-your-luggage-back” dance. Usually you can pick up your stuff almost right after landing – this time it took almost a half hour before they even started the band. Do I sound whiny yet? Oh you have just no idea. I just had one hell if a morning. Night. Yeah.

After that, we had to get our tickets refunded or rebooked by KLM. Which is easier said than done. The queue consisted of around 100 way-too-tired Norwegians, and we were just standing there for hours on an end. During two hours, we had moved three meters further into the insanely long line – and I was standing in the last part of it. They did set up some buses so people could travel to Oslo’s main airport to take a different flight, but I wasn’t even in the front part of the queue when the last bus left at 9 AM.

Waiting for so long “kind of” ruined my usually good flight mood, so I didn’t have any patience to wait for the next plane to Amsterdam (and then China) because of the at least 6 hours of waiting before it. Instead, I rebooked for Wednesday since tomorrow didn’t have any afternoon flights, and I’m way done with early morning flights. So the day after tomorrow, darlings, I’m going back to Shanghai. I honestly can’t wait! There’s nothing to do but wait for my plane while I’m still in Norway.

Oh, and next time I might have two in-between landings, but one of them is in Seoul! It might just be the airport in Korea, but I’m still looking forward to seeing a tiny bit.. Maybe they have cheaper food there. Yum.

When I started thinking about it, I had no clue of what kind of New Year resolutions to create this year. Or how to make sure I don’t break them.

There’s always so many things I need to do, and a year is such little time to make so many dreams come true in. I managed to finish last year’s resolutions because I kept everything realistic, even though I dreamt a lot when I made them. It must sound a bit silly, but instead of in a blur in the beginning of January and then start trying to solve them right away, I usually make them proper and realistic as the year goes on. They start out as dreams for the new year, and then I shape them into something do-able. Y’know, and then I make myself a list of all the smaller pieces and parts I need to do to get the big dream come true.

50 small dreams are easier to fulfil than one huge. And now, after thinking of it for quite a few hours, I think the two large goals for me this year will be to start the beginning of a great portfolio for modelling, and to get enough photography experience to master using a strobe properly. Next year I’ll hopefully be good enough at distributing my time enough to decide joining the Flickr 365 Days challenge. The mini-goals are many, many, but like I said – I’ll make that up as I go along.

I need to loose some weight too, or actually I don’t – but I want to be a perfect XS again and not just a half size in between XS and S. Probably won’t though, unless it happens by it self. I’m really not a big fan of dieting.

Happy Brilliant New Year, darlings! It will be. Feel like sharing your own New Year Resolutions?

Once upon a time, about three months ago while packing up to move to Shanghai, I realized I had too much stuff.

Being materialistic to an incredible degree, it was a quite new kind of day for me. It’s one of the things I thought I’d never admit, not even to myself. While trying desperately to stuff my entire 19 years of life into a 20 kilo suitcase, the amount of luggage you can bring onto an air plane without high extra fees, I finally understood what my dad has been trying too tell me for as long as I can remember: “You simply own WAY too much!”

I realized I the same thing once more after happily trying to forget it for two months, when moving from one room to another in the apartment I share. It took me over a day just to move my things, which I though I had full control over, from a room I hadn’t been staying in for more than a few months. I had already acquired more stuff than I could handle.

I had exactly the same problem even when going home from Shanghai for Christmas a few weeks after moving rooms, as I had when I left Norway. There was just too much things to bring. And I weren’t even planning on bringing much. I made a list of things I felt I absolutely couldn’t leave behind, and suddenly it was three A4 pages long! When I left, I “only” brought with me 13 kilos, after heavily slimming down what I thought I needed.

I just love my things, my books, clothes, shoes, CDs, make-up, dictionaries, art pieces, hair products, camera equipment and not to mention all my jewellery and junk. I’m the kind of person who brings 24 kilos, 4 kilos overweight, when just going on a two week holiday where you technically shouldn’t be needing more than 5.

It’s like what Carrie Bradshaw exclaims in the Sex and the City series: “I like my money right when I can see it – hanging in my closet.” Except I don’t mind it laying around the house either.

However, when I get back to Norway again in May, a lot of those things are going away on Ebay.
